Students always ask me to recommend music, so here are a few titles to get you started in your quest. There are so many, how does one choose? I hope this will help!

   Amr Diab's successful album Nour El Ain (1996)
Amr DiabEgyptian Pop (has an easy listening feeling)
Amr Diab
is known for blending Western and Middle Eastern/Egyptian rhythms. Easy on the ear uninitiated to modern Middle Eastern music.

  
HakimEgyptian Pop (has an upbeat folk feeling)
Hakim is famous for his Egyptian street-pop style of music known as jeel.

Saharni (2003)
Najwa Karam (Lebanese pop) A famous award-winning Lebanese pop singer.

  
Bellydance Superstars CDs are a nice compilation of music ranging from Egyptian classical and pop pieces to new-world music.
