Namaashoum is an independent radio program aired every week from
CKCU-FM 93.1 in Ottawa. Their mission is to promote Persian
culture, literature, music, peace and friendship. Check out the
Fantasy of Persia page for beautiful photos, descriptions and
sound clips of various traditional instruments and drums played
in the Middle East.
cylinders.library.ucsb.edu
The first commercial sound recordings were produced on wax
cylinders at the turn of the 20th century. The UCSB Libraries
have created a digital collection of over 6,000 cylinder
recordings held by the Department of Special Collections. If you search "Arabic"
you can listen to 21 commercial brown wax cylinder recordings
made in the Middle East, possibly around 1900. |
