Nita
Nita is an Egyptian Oriental dancer. Her passion for classic Egyptian dance has taken her from one end of Canada to the other and into the United States, performing, teaching, studying and sharing her delight with audiences and students alike. In addition to the dances of Egypt, Nita also has a deep interest in the many other dance forms of the Near/Middle East and North Africa.
Believing that one is never finished learning, Nita continues her on-going studies
by traveling each year to study with master dancers & ins
As
an entertainer, Nita is an expressive and creative artist who easily
connects with the audience and shares her heart in the celebratory
spirit that is Oriental dance. As a teacher, Nita is encouraging
and nurturing, focusing on building a strong foundational movement
vocabulary upon which her students can learn and grow. She is proud to
watch as her students advance and develop into beautiful, accomplished
dancers in their own right.
Nita strongly believes in promoting and celebrating cultural diversity in the effort towards building bridges to peace and understanding. As a reaction to 9/11, she named her school Celebrations Bellydance as a statement of personal commitment of promoting and celebrating diversity in her own community, and in celebrating her life and the lives of each of us in the larger world.
Nita has been the proud recipient of the Cultural
Industry Training Trust Fund (2003 & 2005) and of the Advanced Artist
Award (2007). She has attended Arabesque Academy's 2-week Professional
Development course with Yasmina Ramzy in Toronto (2003 & 2007) and has
completed Nita's dance resume is available on request.
